Ricoh New Zealand and Solum partner to deliver world-class Electronic Shelf Label solutions to the NZ retail market
Auckland, New Zealand – Ricoh New Zealand today announced a strategic partnership with global smart retail technology leader Solum, bringing advanced Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) solutions to retail enterprises across New Zealand. This collaboration enables Kiwi retailers to modernise in-store pricing, improve operational efficiency and elevate the customer experience through real-time digital automation.
“New Zealand retailers face mounting operational pressures and evolving customer expectations. Our partnership with Solum gives them access to a world-class ESL platform that simplifies pricing, enhances accuracy and unlocks new capabilities for store modernisation,” said Darren Elmore, Managing Director, Ricoh New Zealand. “This is more than a technology deployment - it’s a foundation for retailers to compete smartly and sustainably in tomorrow’s market.”
Electronic Shelf Label technology replaces traditional paper shelf tags with digital e-paper labels that update instantly and centrally, eliminating manual pricing changes and enhancing data accuracy throughout store networks. ESLs can integrate with pricing, inventory and promotional systems, support dynamic offers and strengthen omnichannel strategies, all while reducing labour costs and paper waste.
“Digital pricing and in-store automation are critical for retail readiness. Working with Solum, Ricoh New Zealand is introducing ESL solutions that allow retailers to deliver improved customer experiences while driving measurable productivity gains across their stores,” said Steve Middleton, General Manager – Modern Workspace, Ricoh New Zealand.
Solum is a global leader in ESL innovation with decades of wireless communications expertise and a proven track record of ESL deployments in 45+ countries and tens of thousands of stores worldwide. Its Newton series of ESLs offers rapid update cycles, long battery life and flexible form factors that adapt to diverse retail environments.
“Solum continues to expand into markets where retailers are prioritising digital transformation,” said Paul Kyriakos, General Manager, Solum. “Partnering with Ricoh New Zealand ensures local retailers benefit from our advanced ESL technology backed by Ricoh’s deep New Zealand market experience, nationwide service capability and customer-centric delivery model.”
The Ricoh–Solum partnership reflects Ricoh New Zealand’s broader commitment to helping organisations accelerate their digital journeys with practical, scalable technology solutions that address real business needs. ESL solutions will be available through Ricoh New Zealand’s retail and technology channels and supported with local deployment services, integration expertise and ongoing support.
