Ricoh
New Zealand Limited has products licensed with the New Zealand Ecolabelling
Trust’s tick of approval. Most
Ricoh products will now carry the Environmental Choice New Zealand label.
“At Ricoh, we believe that conserving valuable resources not only
benefits the environment but also makes good business sense,” says
Ricoh New Zealand’s Managing Director, Michael Pollok. “Ricoh
strives to reduce the environmental impact of all our activities from
manufacturing through to sales and service. We also provide our customers
with tools to lower cost of ownership by using fewer consumables and saving
energy while significantly enhancing productivity. The Eco-label will
help in communicating this message to our customers,” he says.
Initiated and endorsed by the New Zealand Government, Environmental Choice
recognises the genuine moves made by manufacturers to reduce the environmental
impacts of their products. This provides a credible and independent guide
for consumers who want to purchase products that are better for the environment.
Products with the Environmental Choice label have to comply with a set
of criteria designed to ensure that they are environmentally friendly.
"Eco-labelling" is a voluntary method of environmental performance
certification and labelling that is practised around the world. An "ecolabel"
is a label which identifies overall environmental preference of a product
or service within a specific product/service category based on life cycle
considerations. In contrast to "green" symbols or claim statements
developed by manufacturers and service providers, an ecolabel is awarded
by an impartial third-party in relation to certain products or services
that are independently determined to meet environmental leadership criteria.
This license has Ricoh New Zealand leading the way yet again just as the
company did when achieving the environmental certification ISO 14001 in
2001 for all of it’s branch offices nationwide.
