Ricoh New Zealand publishes 2011 Sustainability Report
March 5, 2012
Ricoh New Zealand has published its fourth annual Sustainability Report, which demonstrates that organizations can take nothing for granted in terms of long-term sustainability, and that robust systems mean challenges can be faced up to with strength and resilience.
The 2011 report rightly features the exceptional situation created by the devastating Canterbury earthquakes which affected our local team and many clients, and the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan, which had a significant impact on our industry globally. The report explains how we coped with the unprecedented business effects of these natural disasters.
Of particular note is the incredible reaction of our Christchurch team, which was stoic throughout the worst of the disasters’ after-effects, and has bounced back amazingly.
The report outlines our triple bottom line performance over the financial year (1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011). Along with record revenue and pre-tax profit, the report includes some performance highlights:
- Product stewardship improved yet again, with more than 59,700 used toner cartridges from customers recycled – 25.5 per cent more than the previous year. This diverted about 14,000kg of waste from going to landfill.
- The formation of Ricoh Consulting Services signaled an increasing emphasis on meeting huge changes in our industry head on, and put Ricoh in a position to lead the market in the rapidly growing document solutions business.
- ‘Machines in the field’ continues to grow: the true test of a company in our industry is the number of machines it has with customers. The 2011 year saw another strong increase in total MIF, by 16 per cent.
We welcome your feedback on the report.
